This is a small MIDI box, powered by the MIDI cable itself so no external power supply is needed (caveat: some boards don't supply the correct voltage through their MIDI Out ports so you MIGHT need a power supply depending on what you use), which can be programmed essentially as a dedicated hardware filter and transformer. MIDI Solutions makes something called the MIDI Event Processor. I like Novation's products and might go that route down the road.Īs well, there are a couple other dedicated hardware solutions. There might be other keyboard controllers or programmable MIDI controllers that can send SysEx messages, but I didn't look too hard. M-Audio and Novation keyboards can transmit SysEx messages, and thus can be programmed to work with both Roland and Korg's organ engines. Reading through other forums, there is definitely a need to standardize and simplify tonewheel organ controls, not just the drawbars but everything else too, leakage, speed, percussion etc.įor those who want a solution, there are a few. Why they didn't maintain that system when putting the CX-3 engine in the Kronos is beyond me. 16-24 for the upper drawbars, 70-78 for the lower drawbars. but the CX-3 clonewheel organ which Korg manufactured for a time, whose engine has been faithfully ported to the Kronos, used simple MIDI CC's for its drawbars. I know, right? After some research, turns out the Kronos X uses SysEx to transmit drawbar information, too.
